Library of Memories

So, for those of you who know about Stacy Julian's awesome scrapbook philosophy, which can be found in her book Big Picture Scrapbooking as well as her new book, Photo Freedom, you are familiar with her Library of Memories. Stacy teaches this course once a year on the Big Picture Scrapbooking site and once you take it, she allows Alumni to audit the class the following year.

The basics are that you sort pictures chronologically, but then pull out pictures that don't have a direct link or connection to the remainder in that batch (a picture of Kiera being silly for example at the zoo would get placed in the Kiera personality drawer, without worrying about the date, rather than in date order or at a "Zoo" category". The base idea is from there you can find common features and ideas in your category drawers. You stop worrying about scrapping chronologically and find meaningful ways to scrapbook your life.

One of the other projects is to resort your layouts into similar categories, rather than chronologically. Of course I have made a mess of the explanation, but the idea behind her LOM is all available in her books and her courses. Needless to say, this has changed my life and the way I scrapbook.

Last year I did the whole photo organization portion, but didn't get a chance to do the reorganization of the layouts. So, this year I am doing title pages for my library of memories books and this is the first one. Simple design, used the Tulis paper from the Batik line. The albums I am using are the black 3 ring AC albums, so I want my title and section pages to have some black to coordinate through the album.
